This is for people who don't want to use a trial program or buy playclaw. Then open the program and click "Change Image Folder" Then select the folder you put the crosshair you want to use in.
Create a new file and name it whatever you'd like, and drag the crosshair you want to use into that folder. To change settings right click and click settings. When the program opens it will be minimized in your task bar, near where the clock is. Using this program you can use the image of any crosshair and display it over the game, allowing you to have any custom crosshair you'd like. There is a program called "Custom Desktop Logo" that allows any image file to be displayed on your monitor above any program. It's a completely standalone program that just overlays an image on your monitor. It does not mess with any game files or mess with the memory of the game. Keep in mind that using this will NOT get you banned. However for those of you who would like to use a custom crosshair you can still do so, just without recursion or playclaw. Which sucked because I wanted to use the crosshair overlay that it provided. I have not tried it and cannot attest to its values good or bad.I was setting up recursion, and read up how the overlay functions were broken with the DX11 update. It's completely within the limitations of most user agreements to screenshot the gameplay, just not the users desktop ect. This is exactly how the crosshair feature works, it is injected as a direct x overlay. All of them take directx and opengl hardware encapsulated screenshots to detect any injected code. And even if they did that, what's to stop a person from sticking a crosshair on their monitor? The server administrator can't detect that! Any game which has rules like those are frankly banal, CYA style attempts at preventing "cheating", and pathetically so. Even if they did, they'd have to screenshot the user's screen, not the game, because the overlay wouldn't provide any extra info to the game.
The server administrator cannot, or at the very least should not barring trojans, etc. Matthew, I don't think that's likely to happen. That being said it's pretty great software. Keep in mind this is against the terms of service for alot of games and the ingame crosshair overlay ect is likely to get you banned if the server administrator uses a screenshot tool.
